MANSFIELD — James Lee Bechtol, 79, of Highland Avenue, Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield.

He was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Mount Vernon to the late James Simon and Sylvia (Adkinson) Bechtol. James was employed for 29 years at Cooper-Bessemer and later at Hydraulic Technologies Inc. of Galion. He was a member of Mount Zion Lodge 9, Grotto of Mansfield and the Elks Lodge of Mansfield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Yvonne (Kearns) Bechtol; five daughters, Ann (Terry) Gardner of Mount Vernon, Marilyn Ike of Mount Vernon, Regina (Richard) Fox of Mount Vernon, Angela (Joseph) Gassaway of Lucas and Wendy Carpenteri of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, James Phillip (Annette) Bechtol of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Holly Ike; and a grandson, Aaron Ike.

Friends may call Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Mound View Cemetery.
