CENTERBURG — John Paul Ingalls, 84, of Centerburg, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at his home.

He was born Nov. 22, 1926, in Pike County, Ohio, to the late Clyde and Maud (Steiner) Ingalls. John was employed and retired from Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his sons, Jim (Melinda) Ingalls of Howard, Jack Ingalls of Delaware, Daniel (Ann) McDowell of Columbus and David (Cindy) McDowell of Centerburg; two granddaughters, Tara (Allen) Williamson of Mount Vernon and Lydia Ingalls of Howard; and two sisters, Shirley (John) Vollmer of Newark and Susan Ingalls of Waverly.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; his second wife, Patricia; his third wife, Marion; and his son, Jeffrey Ingalls.

Friends may call Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will follow beginning at noon. The family will observe a private family burial at a later date.
