MOUNT VERNON — Janice M. Barnes, 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 24, 2010, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
She was born Feb. 23, 1932, in Vandalia, Ill., a daughter of the late Forrest and Lois (Siebert) Taylor. Janice was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a Catholic by faith.
Janice is survived by her daughter, Connie (Robert) Crock of Hopewell; sons, Roger (Patrice) Barnes of Dublin, and Jeffrey (Levylin) Barnes and Timothy (Diana) Barnes, both of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Leroy Taylor and Edward Taylor, both of Vandalia, Ill.; and sisters, Marilyn Baumann of Vandalia, Ill., and Sue Carter of Mount Sterling, Ill.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Barnes, on Feb. 4, 2010; a grandson, Timothy “J.C.” Barnes; and a brother, Daniel Taylor.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 28, from noon until the time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Father F. Richard Snoke presiding. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
