MARENGO — Frederick H. “Gunny” Weiss, 77, of Marengo died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at MedCentral in Mansfield following a two-week illness.

He was born Jan. 24, 1933, in Coudersport, Pa., to the late Herman and Grace (Denson) Weiss. A master gunnery sergeant of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served in Korea and Vietnam.

Survivors are his wife, Eleanor (Burch); sons, Daniel (Carol), Victor and Gardner (Mary); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas; sisters, Lorraine Saunders, Marguerite Wilde, Linda Pupp.

He was preceded in death by a dear friend, Frank Sandborn.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3:30 p.m., when services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Marengo United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sue Antolik officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Marengo Cemetery. The DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
