MOUNT VERNON — Harold Davis, 81, of East Chestnut Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital emergency room.

He was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Columbus to the late Bert and Alta (Hurt) Davis. Harold served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at ITT Corp. in Galion and was a lifetime member of the American Legion 710 in Marengo. Harold always had that fun loving spirit and personality and will be known by the family as the world’s best mushroom hunter.

He is survived by a son, Harold V. (Vicky Elkins) Davis of Mount Vernon; three daughters, Julie (Robert) Frame of Newark, Joni (Stephen) Woolson of Findlay and April Davis of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Davis of Tennessee.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Davis; twin brother, Gerald Davis; brothers, Bert Davis and Roy Davis; and a sister, Ruby Wise.

The family will observe a memorial service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Harold Davis.
