UTICA — Helen J. Fields, 87, of Utica and formerly of Delaware, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Middleport to the late Cecil A. and Frances M. (Patten) Root. She was a retired vocal music teacher for Olentangy Schools. She was a former member of the North Baptist Church and recently a member of Grace Brethren Church.
She is survived by sons, Mark (Sharon) of Columbus, Thomas (Amy) of Utica; daughter, Susan Fields of Utica; four grandchildren; brother, William (June) Root of Dublin; sister, Barbara Jean (Richard) Stacy of Rochester, N.Y.
Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Keith Fields, on April 11, 2000.
Private graveside services for the family were held today in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
