MOUNT VERNON — LaVawn Branstool, 94, of North Main Street, Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Country Court Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Perrysville to the late Bird and Iva (Gilmore) Petry. LaVawn struggled every day of her life. Life for her was a challenge and she has now found rest and peace at last. No more sadness, fears, heartache and tears. She married her husband, Marx L. Branstool, on April 24, 1937.
She is survived by four sons, Larry (Ann) Branstool of West Minster, Calif., Jerry (Marty) Branstool of Charlotte, N.C., Terry Branstool of Mount Vernon and Dennis Branstool of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Aaron and Regan Branstool, Gregory Branstool and Rick Branstool; a sister, Phyllis Humbert of Millwood; a niece, Josey Sabo; and a nephew, Paul Branstool.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marx L. Branstool, who passed away in 1968; a grandson, Steve Branstool; and two brothers, Edward and Gerald Petry.
The family will observe a private graveside service in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Denise Marikis will be officiating. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of LaVawn Branstool.
