MOUNT VERNON — Kevin Hartley Lord, 44, of Mount Vernon passed on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, following a six-week hospitalization at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Kevin was born Aug. 7, 1966, in Mount Vernon to Robert Freedom and Esther Ann (Hartley) Lord. He was a 1984 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. Kevin had been an Emergency Medical Technician with Paramedic II licensure and firefighter for 20 years. For the past several years, Kevin had been employed by Werner Enterprises Inc., as a professional truck driver out of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Esther; sisters, Dawn Coe and Melissa (John) Shaw; sister-in-law, Glendora (Phillip) Lord; nieces and nephews, Samantha, Andrew, Erin and Maggie Shaw and Victoria Lord, Summer (Ray) Stephens, Laura (Derek) Shannon and Matthew Lord; 10 great-nieces and nephews, all of Mount Vernon.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Lord; his brother and best friend, Phillip Freedom Lord; his paternal grandparents, Howard Freedom and Elizabeth (Weaver) Lord; his maternal grandparents, Jesse and Elizabeth (Rine) Hartley.

The family will honor Kevin’s life with a private memorial service at a later date.
