MOUNT VERNON — Mark Edward DePolo, 47, of Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011.

He was born July 20, 1963, in Mount Vernon to Nick DePolo and Charlotte (Biffath) Stewart. Mark was employed as a chef in the Columbus area. He enjoyed cooking, golfing and classic cars. Mark was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his son, Derrick DePolo of Columbus; his grandson, Dominick DePolo; his mother, Charlotte Stewart of Mount Vernon; his father, Nick (Peggy) DePolo of Mount Vernon; his brother, Jay DePolo of Mount Vernon; his grandfather, Frank Biffath of Mount Vernon; his stepfather, Jim Stewart of Cambridge; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nora Biffath.

Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will be held in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
