MOUNT VERNON — Edrell W. Sanders, 86, of Fry Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Country Club Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.

She was born Sept. 4, 1924, in Brilliant, Ala., to the late William and Virgin (Webb) Whitman. Mrs. Sanders was a woman of deep Christian faith who modeled for all of us the meaning of a life well lived. She loved the Lord, her family and friends with unfailing fidelity. Her ministry through The Church of the Nazarene as a pastor’s wife, District Missionary President, and as a wonderful church pianist were a blessing to many and still stand as a credit to her character.

She is survived by two sons, William (Suzanne) Sanders of Mount Vernon and Timothy Mark (Teresa) Sanders of Columbus; a daughter, Nelda Woolverton of Topeka, Kan.; six grandchildren, Ben (Heather) Sanders, Holly (Ted) Fuller, Jack (Katie) Woolverton, Jessica Ellwood, Matthew Sanders and Jacob Sanders; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ozias Whitman.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Terrell Carl Sanders Jr.; four brothers; and four sisters.

A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Olathe, Kan. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Edrell W. Sanders.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nazarene Theological Seminary. To view this obituary or leave a condolence, visit www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
