MOUNT VERNON — Dolores E. Fogle, age 86, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011, at Holly Hill Nursing Home.
She was born May 16, 1924, near Aurora in Dearborn County, Ind., to Edward and Eva Stella Taylor Brown. Dolores grew up on Holman Ridge and attended one-room Todd School, graduating from Moores Hill High School in the class of ’40 and YMCA Business School in Cincinnati in 1941.
She and her husband, Donald B. Fogle, came to Mount Vernon in 1965 when he accepted a position of chief of maintenance at the Old Mercy Hospital. Dolores was a 20-year employee of Cooper Energy Services. She had been a longtime member of The Salvation Army, and on retirement from Cooper’s in 1986, she accepted a three-year assignment with The Salvation Army THQ in Seoul, Korea, as sponsorship secretary for the five children’s homes in operation throughout South Korea. An assignment which was very near and dear to her heart.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia K. McEntee (Richard), Chagrin Falls; two grandchildren, Kristin Nieter (John), Homewood, Ill., and Jon Randall McEntee (Abby), Brooklyn, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. She had four great-grandchildren, Evan and Elizabeth Nieter, and Ren and Sam McEntee.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Fogle; three brothers, Everett (Gayle), Estal (Mary) and Harold (Catherine); and a sister, Mary E. Casey (Marion).
Funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army. Visitation hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home on North Main Street, Mount Vernon. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
