MOUNT VERNON — Marjorie J. Fiant, 90, of Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 16, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

She was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Cardington, daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Thomas) Lee. Marjorie was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church near Mount Vernon. Marjorie played the organ and piano for several area churches and also while wintering in Florida. She was a member of the Women’s Choir at the Pioneer Village in Fort Myers, Fla. She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. Marjorie was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Raymond L. Fiant, whom she married Nov. 26, 1938; daughters, Lois Shaffer of Aurora and Bonnie (Sheldon) Eggleston of Canton; sons, Ken (Carole) Fiant of Gambier, John (Mary Jo) Fiant of Akron and Carl Fiant of Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by a son, Paul Fiant; and her brothers, Kenneth and Howard Lee.

The family will have a memorial service celebrating the life of Marjorie at a later date.
