MOUNT VERNON — Olive Herdman, 95, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Fredericktown, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.

Olive was born Nov. 12, 1915, in Logan to Albert and Ida (Westenbarger) Smith and had been a resident of the Fredericktown area since 1940. She was a member of the First Church of God in Fredericktown and the Fredericktown Senior Citizens.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Sue Beheler, Retha Clark, Bill Herdman, Carma Miller and Betty Ann Zigler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Herdman, in 1986; a sister, Mabel Engle; and a stepsister, Helen Spears.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of her funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, with the Rev. Richard Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
