HOWARD — Ward Grizzell, 82, of Apple Valley Drive, Howard, passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Greenup County, Ky., to the late Everett and Mildred (Stephens) Grizzell. Ward served in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1991 after 33 years of employment with General Motors in Anderson, Ind. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and attended Christ the King Community Church in Fredericktown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucille (Crowe) Grizzell; a daughter, Jeanie (Charles) Turner of Miamisburg; a granddaughter, Angela (Tim) Woodward; brothers and sisters, Joe (Sharon) Grizzell, Harry (Juanita) Grizzell, Jim (Cathy) Grizzell, Wilbur (Minnie) Grizzell, Dean Grizzell, Dick (Irene) Grizzell and Jeanie (Reggie) Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jim Grizzell; and brothers and sisters, Esther Mauser, Robert Grizzell, Ken Grizzell, Ray Grizzell, Roger Grizzell, Everett Grizzell and Ida Andrews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Lucian Baker will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
