MOUNT VERNON — Ida Edith Snow, 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

She was born on June 28, 1924, in Lakewood, daughter of the late Carlo and Mary (Natole) Rubino Sr. Ida was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and a 1958 graduate of Otterbein College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in education.

Ida served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Harvest Assembly of God Church in Mount Vernon. She retired in 1987 after 32 years as a school teacher for the Mount Vernon City Schools. Ida was a member of the AARP, the Retired Teachers Association and the Ohio Education Association.

She is survived by her son, Michael D. (Deborah) Snow of Woodbury, N.J.; a daughter, Lola (Richard) Schissel of New Field, N.Y.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Sandi Paul of Columbus.

In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlo Rubino Jr. and Tony Rubino; and a sister, Rosa Bucco.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. The Rev. Don Matolyak will be officiating. Entombment with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be held in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens at a later date.
