UTICA — A funeral service for Lova M. Pierce, 90, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, at Law-Baker Funeral Home, with Pastors Jim Shivers and Bob Long officiating. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery.

Lova died Jan. 23, 2011, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, Westerville. She was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Black Oak, Ohio, to the late Elmer B. and Retta M. (Murphy) Holland. Lova was a member of Bennington Chapel Methodist Church where she played piano until two weeks prior to her death.

She is survived by her sons, Frederick F. Pierce Jr. of Reynoldsburg, James W. Pierce of Mount Vernon; daughters, Emily Pierce Martello of Clarkston, Mich., Lova Darlene Pierce Schwartz of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her church family and many phone friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Frederick F. Pierce Sr. who passed away June 7, 1998; great-grandson, Caleb E. Lange; and her five siblings.

Friends may call Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.
