MOUNT VERNON — Barbara L. Walton, 74, of Upland Terrace, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 13, 1936, in Mount Vernon to the late Clarence and Laurel (Roberts) Stoyle. Barbara retired from J.C. Penney’s of Mount Vernon and also served as a volunteer for Knox Community Hospital. She was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching any sporting event of The Ohio State University or the Cleveland Indians. Barbara was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her loving husband, Brad Walton, whom she married on Sept. 20, 1959; her children, Keith (Sandy) Walton of Wichita, Kan., Phillip Walton of Lincoln, Neb., and Debbie (Pat) Maloney of Mount Vernon; and four grandchildren, Kyle Walton, Nick Maloney, Kelly Walton and Mason Maloney.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, James Stoyle.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 8764 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Doug Forsythe will be officiating. Burial will follow in Bell Church Cemetery near Utica.
