MOUNT VERNON — Betty Ann Brown Davis Lares Grandy, 75, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, in the ICU at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus of respiratory failure.
Betty was born Oct. 26, 1935, in Nelsonville (Athens County) and had been a resident of Mount Vernon since 1996.
She is survived by her husband, James William Grandy; two daughters, Angela Marie (Davis) Dixon of Athens and Maria Frances (Lares) Birchfield of Mount Vernon; her son, Richard Allen Davis of Findlay; stepchildren, John (Renee) Grandy of Mansfield, Tammy Grandy of Bucyrus and Tom (Penny) Grandy of Ashland; six grandchildren, Richard Allen Davis Jr., Kayla Marie Birchfield, Joseph Lee Birchfield, Aaron William Dixon, Caryn Marie Dixon and Ryan Aaron Dixon; and four stepgrandchildren, Carl Massey, Heather Massey, Jade Marie Grandy and Mitchell Vaughn Grandy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Richard Brown and Anna Marie (Riley) Brown; paternal grandparents, Emanuel Wilson Brown and Mary Levina (Davis) Brown; and maternal grandparents, Francis Bruce Riley and Daisy Ellen (Reeves) Riley.
Betty was a 1952 graduate of North High School in Columbus and she was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Paterson Avenue, Columbus. She worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Co., the BancOhio National Bank (Columbus) and Columbia Gas Co. before becoming a full-time homemaker in 1972. Betty was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Mount Vernon Chapter 100.
There will be no calling hours. Private burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
