NEW LEXINGTON — Ronald W. Tyson, 70, of New Lexington, Ohio, died at 1:11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Butler to the late Mona J. Zavora and Clarence Dwight Tyson. Mr. Tyson retired from Peabody Coal Co. after 20 years of service; was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church at New Lexington and an Army veteran. Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by wife of 47 years, Lorna Jane Tyson of the home; son, Kurtis Lee (Sheri) Tyson of Springfield; daughter, Kristi Lynn (Gary) Keffer of Zanesville; grandchildren, Kaylee, Kenzie, Kolton, Kyanne Tyson and Klayton Keffer; brothers, Terry (Karen) Tyson of Mount Vernon, Tom Tyson of Mount Vernon, Stan Tyson of Mount Vernon, David (Kathy) Bernard of Dayton, Aaron Robert (Connie) Bernard of New Straitsville and Fred Bernard of Roseville; sisters, Lois (Charlie) Stringfellow of Mount Vernon and Brenda (Dan) Pursel of Mount Vernon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy.

Calling hours will be Thursday, Feb. 3, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, 304 Mill St., New Lexington, Ohio. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at Saint Rose Catholic Church, Main and Water Streets, New Lexington, with the Rev. Father Victor Wesolowski as celebrant. Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery, with graveside military services by John Tague Post 188, American Legion, New Lexington.
