MOUNT VERNON — Lois M. McGough completed her life’s journey on Feb. 3, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at the Ohio Eastern Star Home. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed supporting her family by attending their various activities, whether it be ball games, concerts or 4-H events.
She was born May 24, 1933, in McConnelsville to the late Paul B. and Gladys (Combs) Rex Sr. Lois was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and the longtime member of the Ohio Eastern Star Knox Chapter 236 and the Alpha Gamma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Denise) McGough, John McGough, David (Tamara) McGough, Paul McGough and Deborah (Marty) Erlandson, all of Mount Vernon; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rex, and a brother-in-law, Robert Campbell, both of Mount Vernon.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence McGough; brothers, Harlan Rex, Paul B. Rex Jr.; and a sister, Eloise Campbell.
Friends may call Sunday, Feb. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry St., Mount Vernon, where a Beta Sigma Phi Sorority service and a Eastern Star Service will follow calling hours at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Mark and Lisa Caldwell-Reiss officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Lois McGough family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County or Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Lois’ name.
