MOUNT VERNON — Jeanne Frances (Dorsey) Gasbarro, 87, of Mount Vernon, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2011, in the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born July 22, 1923, in Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late Everett and Barbara (Dial) Dorsey. Jeanne was a loving wife and mother, and was the last member of her generation in the family. During World War II, she was an active Defense worker. She was a life member of the DAV and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Loyal Order of Moose. Jeanne in younger days was very active in Community Theatre and was a supporter of the Mount Vernon Players and the Knox Community Hospital.
Jeanne is survived by her sons, Philip D. (Lyn) Gasbarro of Mount Vernon, Nicholas V. (Judy) Gasbarro of Salem, Ore., and Everett T. Gasbarro of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Vinny, Rosa and Elissa; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Gasbarro, on Aug. 17, 1986; sisters, Dorothy, Irene, Betty and Mary Jo; and her brother, Everett.
A memorial gathering will be held Monday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mount Vernon. Inurnment will take place in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jeanne’s memory to the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital, 1330 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
