COSHOCTON — Charles “Mick” Barnett,
67, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital with his family
by his side.
He was born June 17, 1943, in Buckhannon, W.Va., to Genevieve Betty (Helmick)
and James Essle Barnett. He was a 1961 graduate of Union High School, and was
very close to his classmates. He retired from Clow on June 1, 2004, after 40
years. He was a member of the Coshocton Gun Club, AMVETS, Moose Lodge and Eagles
Lodge, and also the NRA. Mick loved varmint hunting, long-range shooting and
reloading rifle shells. He was also an avid reader of western novels and loved
spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Denise (William) Huston of Coshocton; sons, Charles
Michael (Patty) Barnett of Westerville and Marc (Sandy) Barnett of Walhonding;
brothers, Elmer L. (Cheryl) Barnett and Jack E. (Sharon) Barnett, both of Coshocton;
sisters, Betty (Jack) Ziak of Cuyahoga Falls and Judy (Matt) Castro of Stewartsville,
N.J.; six grandchildren, Payton, Rylee, Brian, Emily, Tyler and Natalie; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James, on April 5, 1991, and Genevieve,
on March 27, 2010.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral
Home in Warsaw. Pastor Mark Granger will officiate. Burial will follow in New
Castle Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
