MOUNT VERNON — Daniel C. “Danny” Peters, 72, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 8, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Dec. 27, 1938, in Mount Vernon, a son of the late Elmer Clifford Peters and Ruth G. (Talbott) Peters. Danny attended Amity High School and had spent his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. He had worked at the Chattanooga Glass Co. in Mount Vernon for 20 years and retired from the Mid-Ohio Warehouse in Mount Vernon after 10 years employment.
He was an avid antique car show fan and for several years he attended these shows with his 1967 Chevy Chevelle convertible. Danny was a member of the First Church of God in Fredericktown.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rebecca (Dunn) Peters, whom he married on Oct. 3, 1958; a son, Jerry (Angie) Peters of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Reneé (Kevin) Hulse of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Peters and Timothy Peters, both of Mount Vernon; sisters, Kay Ann Fry of Mount Vernon and Kathleen Booth of Howard; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Besides his parents, Danny was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Peters.
Funeral services for Danny Peters will be Friday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, with Pastor Richard Prater and Sister Sandy Kempon officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from noon until time of the service at 2 p.m.
