FRAZEYSBURG — Elmer W. Chapman, 79, of Frazeysburg, went to be with his savior on Feb. 9, 2011, surrounded by his family.

Elmer was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Greer to the late Granville and Bertha (Norris) Chapman. Elmer had several jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed his John Wayne movies, game shows and mushroom hunting. Elmer was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jaunita (Turbeville) Chapman; two daughters, Jerrie (Kenneth) Moran and Deborah Bowers; two sons, Ira and James Chapman; five brothers, Ralph and Harry Chapman, Henry (Jenny) Chapman, Kenneth (Sun) Chapman and Robert (Bonnie) Chapman; four sisters, Dorothy (George) Seitz, Lulubelle (Richard) Snyder, Matilda Neighbarger and Goldie Rauch; two brothers-in-law, John and Larry Turbeville; a sister-in-law Patti Forte; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Dwayne Chapman and Tony Bagent; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and three great-grandchildren.

Elmer will be greatly missed.

Memorial services are being planned for a later date and will be announced. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Homes are handling the funeral arrangements for the Chapman family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County or to the funeral home to help family with funeral expenses.
