CHLLICOTHE — E. Herman Williams, 97, of Chillicothe died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Pleasant Hill Manor, Piketon.
He was born April 22, 1913, in Monroe County, W.Va., to the late Houston and Bertha (Carr) Williams. On Nov. 29, 1933, he married the former Pearl Cochran who died Sept. 9, 1980.
He is survived by four children, Virginia “Ginny” Thompson and Sharon J. Walls, both of Bainbridge, Roger W. (Peggy) Williams of Lancaster, Calif., and Rex A. Williams (Lisa Jordan) of Chillicothe; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Hobert Williams of Mount Gilead; and a sister, Mary K. Leamon of Florida.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard “Dick” Williams; grandchildren, Stan and Brian Thompson and Mike Walls; sisters, Vivian Meyers, Violet McDonald and Velma Simmons; grandson-in-law, Berman Detty Jr.; and sons-in-law, Paul Thompson and Rodney G. Walls.
Herman was part owner and operator of Paint Valley Sand and Gravel and worked for Miller Mason for many years after that. He was a past member of the Bainbridge City Council. He loved being with his family and friends, his Redman Tobacco and his beloved dog, Bailey.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville. No calling hours will be observed.
