MARENGO — John “Dick” Elliott Jr., 83, of Marengo died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Morrow County Hospital.

He was born on April 25, 1927, in Nelsonville to the late John and Blanche M. (Six) Elliott. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired in 1972 as a forklift operator and was a member of Sparta Advent Christian Church.

Survived by daughter, Shirley (James) Rupp; sons, Frank Rowe and Bob Rowe; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Roy Elliott.

Preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Ellen L. (Compton) Elliott; five brothers; and two sisters.

Friends may call one hour prior to funeral service on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead. Pastor David Keefer will officiate. Interment in Bloomfield Cemetery with military honors.
