MOUNT VERNON — John W. Hess Jr., 59, of Rolling Hills Court, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 10, 1952, in Delaware, Ohio, to the late John W. “Jack” and Patricia (Blubaugh) Hess Sr. John retired from Columbia Gas Co. after 25 years of employment.

He is survived by his wife, Luann (Graham) Hess, whom he married Nov. 30, 1984; a son, Jason Hess of the home; two daughters, Amie Hess of Mount Vernon and Ashlie (Lafe) Brownfield of New Albany; three grandchildren, Jordan, Marissa and Jillian; two brothers, J. Earl (Jacalyn) Hess and Michael (Mary Cline) Hess, both of Mount Vernon; three sisters, Cindy (Walter Shockley) Frye and Mary Jo (Rick) Hawkins, both of Mount Vernon, and Nancy (David) Pennington of Fredericktown.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon.
