CENTERBURG — Shirley L. Allen, 72, of Centerburg, a member of the Centerburg Church of Christ, left her Earthly family to join her Heavenly one on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, while surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born March 12, 1938, in Orbiston, Ohio, the daughter of Stanley and Naomi (Campbell) Robinson.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Austin Junior Allen; daughters, Jeri (Donald) Hall of Johnstown and Shawna Young of Centerburg; daughter-in-law, CeAnn Allen of Centerburg; grandchildren, Chris Hall, Mike Barber, Austin Allen and Aubrie Allen; great-grandchildren, Preston Barber and Blake Barber. She is also survived by sisters, Pat (Ed) Redman of Heath, Jean Adams of Murray City and Marlene (Larry) Mitchell of Murray City; an uncle, Virgil Campbell of Nelsonville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Charles “Chuck” Allen.

At Shirley’s request, there will be no calling hours. A private, family graveside service will be held in East View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions made in Shirley’s name to Centerburg Church of Christ and Hospice of Knox County. Arrangements by Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, Centerburg.

She would like you to know, in her own words, “Remember me as I was, realize I have just changed my address to Heaven. Make reservations to come and see me when God calls you.”
