WALHONDING — Robert J. Stricker, 85, of Walhonding, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home after an extended illness.

He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Bladensburg to the late Sanford and Lucille (Mavis) Stricker. Robert was a World War II Army veteran. He retired from Continental Can in 1988. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 95 in Mount Vernon and the American Legion in Utica.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen (McKee) Stricker; sons, David (Pat) Stricker of Phoenix, Ariz., and Michael R. Stricker of Wapakoneta; sisters, Naomi (Ken) Mickley and Diana (Richard) Bingham, both of Mount Vernon, and Cheryl Laymon of Florida; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia “Patty” Stricker; and three brothers, Gail, Carl and Dwight Stricker.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Homes are handling the arrangements for the Stricker family.
