MOUNT VERNON — William E. “Bill” Crowthers, 82, of Mount Vernon, passed away March 8, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Upper Sandusky to the late Carroll B. and Opal O. (Edgar) Crowthers. Bill was a U.S. Navy and Marine Corps veteran. He was a life member of the AMVETS and the Colonial City Moose Lodge. Bill had worked for Coopers in the foundry department for 23 years and the Sprint Telephone Co., where he retired in 1991.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances (Mehl) Crowthers; his daughter, Terry L. (Rick) Williams of Mount Vernon; sons, Daniel (Victoria) Crowthers of Howard and David (Jo Ellynn) Crowthers of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Nancy Allen of Mount Vernon.

Bill was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Crowthers.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the arrangements for the Crowthers family.
