UTICA — A funeral service for Joseph A. Patton, 89, of Utica, will be held Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with the Revs. Carol R. Weiss and Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery.

Mr. Patton passed away March 7, 2011, at Autumn Health Care, Mount Vernon. He was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Utica to the late Reese and Edith (Hawkins) Patton. Joseph was a retired farmer, a 43-year member of the Homer Fire Department, lifetime member of Homer Presbyterian Church and past president of Northridge Homer PTO. He was a 1939 Homer High School graduate.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Lee Patton of Utica; children, Cathy (Lee) Bailey, Jeff (Debbie) Patton, Brad (Allyson) Patton, all of Utica; grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Bailey, Amy (Joel) Kohler, Wendy (Scott) Howard, Alex, Caleb, Nick and Kaylee Patton; great-grandchild, Makenna Howard; and sister-in-law, Edna Patton of Newark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald, Harold and Leo Patton; and sister, Sara Motz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Homer Fire Department, P.O. Box 8, Homer, OH 43027; or Homer Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 112, Homer, OH 43027.

Friends may call Friday, March 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.
