MOUNT VERNON — Phyllis Lee Hubbard, 74, of Bryant Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 18, 1936, in Shinnston, W.Va., to the late Leslie and Pansy (Kern) O’Dell. Phyllis retired in 1991 after 17 years of employment with the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. She was a member of the Eagles, AMVETS Post 95 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 4027, all of Mount Vernon.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine (Ernest) Williamson of Salyersville, Ky., and Connie (Rich) Simpson of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Brooks O’Dell of Mount Vernon and Roger (Diane) O’Dell of Mount Vernon; and sister-in-law, Sandy O’Dell.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hubbard, in 1990; a son, Delbert Hubbard; stepson, Earl David Hubbard; and a brother, Darrell O’Dell.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Gerald Bell will be officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
