MANSFIELD — Doris E. Jackson Welker, 82, of Lexington-Ontario Road, Mansfield, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home in Mansfield.
She was born March 2, 1929, in Knox County to the late Cecil and Mary (Hyatt) Jackson. Doris was a member of the First Congregational Church in Mansfield. She held degrees from the University of Arizona, The Ohio State University and the College of Wooster. Doris will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Norman David (Jo Ann Sferro) Schaefer of Mansfield; a sister, Mary Ellen Black of Mount Vernon; nieces and nephews, Lee (Julie) Black, Andrew (Carol) Black, Tim (Donna) Black, Mary Kinsman, Rebecca Black and Nan (Mike Andorfer) Black; and special friends, Belinda Lee and Jarrod Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dan Dickman will be officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
