HOWARD — James E. Price, 72, of Howard, passed away at his home Saturday, March 12, 2011, with his family at his side.

He was born May 21, 1938, in Dover, Ohio, to the late Vernon Price and Wilda Anderson. James attended the Howard Christian Church. He was a member of the Archaeological Society of Ohio, Kokosing Chapter. James worked for the federal government for over 31 years as a computer programmer and analyst for Wright Patterson Air Force Base, the Newark Air Force Station and D.S.A.C in Columbus. He enjoyed music and played the organ and guitar but he especially loved boating, swimming and fishing at Apple Valley Lake.

He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Rowena (Gilliam) Price; two daughters, Karen (Paul) Ryther of Groveport and Lucinda (Michael) Rodgers of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; two grandchildren, Justus and Emery Cyr; one great-grandchild, Madilynn Cyr; three brothers, Bob Price of New Philadelphia, Art Price of Canton and Marty Price of New Philadelphia; and a sister, Wilda Leeper of Texas.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Howard Christian Church with Pastor Brad White officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made in James’ name to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050; or Cancer Fund of America Inc., 2901 Breezewood Lane, Knoxville, TN 37921.
