MOUNT VERNON — Lamberta M. Simpson, 91, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 20, 1919, in Ottawa, Ohio, to the late Lambert and Margie (Kohls) Studer Sr. Lamberta was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Apple Valley and Irish Hills women’s golf leagues. Lamberta worked as the Welcome Wagon Lady of Knox County and retired as a fabric buyer for Ringwalt’s in Mount Vernon. She also served as a volunteer for over 30 years at Knox Community Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Chamberlain of Macedonia, Ohio, Kathryn (David) Daniels of Fredericktown, Michael (Patricia) Simpson of Fredericktown and James (Sally) Simpson of Centerburg; eight grandchildren, Chuck (Darla) Daniels, Chad (Libby) Daniels, Leigh Ann (Tyler) McKinney, J.T. Chamberlain, Skyler Simpson, Michelle Simpson, Cassie Simpson and Tristen Simpson; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Daniels, Paige McKinney and Jackson Daniels; extended family, John Albino of Schenley, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Norris Simpson; and three brothers, Lambert Studer Jr., John Studer and Tom Studer.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A Funeral Mass will be Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond will be the celebrant. The family will observe a private graveside service.
