FREDERICKTOWN — Aggie Adkins, 74, of Fredericktown, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
On Sept. 23, 1936, Aggie was born in Hazard, Ky., the daughter of Ray and Evelyn (Young) Adams. Aggie married Herman L. Adkins on Aug. 7, 1954, and shared 57 years of marriage. Aggie was a member of Centerburg Enterprise Baptist Church. Aggie will be remembered for her love of the outdoors. She loved to fish, hunt mushrooms, pick berries, tend to her garden and collect walnuts in the fall. She was the Grand Champion of the Friday Night Rook Club that she enjoyed playing with her sisters.
She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Herman L. Adkins; her children, Linda Faulconer, Glenn Adkins, Bonnie Murfield, Pauline (Charlie Everett) Parsons, Loretta (Charles) Gillen, Penny (Randall) Christie, Ray (Danielle) Adkins and Dorothy Adkins, all of Fredericktown; loving grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 17; sister of Bonnie (Harvey) Moore, Archie (Glenna) Adams, Shirley Hall, Dora (Astor) Caudill, Martha (Don) Newell, Mary (Jerry) Newell, John (Kathy) Adams and Dan Adams; and sister-in-law of Billie Adams.
Aggie was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Bailey and Bethany; one great-grandchild, Ares; and two siblings, Linda Adams and Eugene Adams.
Friends may call on the family Sunday, March 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead. Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville with Pastors L.J.
