LEXINGTON — A citizen by naturalization and a patriot at heart, Jose J. Guerra, 74, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, in his home.
Born July 15, 1936, in the Portugal border town of Atras dos Montes, he was the son of Dionizio and Maria (dos Santos Pedro) Guerra. He moved to Brazil where he was trained as a plumber — skills he would bring to Mansfield when he worked with The Ohio Brass Co. and Westinghouse.
Survived by his wife, Magdalena (Kampf) Guerra; daughters, Regina (Lance) McClung and Rosana (Mark) Coffey; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; cherished friend, Fred Scott of Lexington; and a brother and a sister in Brazil.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.
His family has chosen compassionate cremation services with Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 159 Frederick St., Lexington.
