MOUNT VERNON — Joyce Ellen Morrison, 85, of Mansfield Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Mount Vernon to the late Paul and Harriett (Krafft) Turner. She was the 1943 Forum Queen at Mount Vernon High School. Joyce received her bachelor’s degree from Miami University and was employed as a teacher in the Mount Vernon School District. She was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and was an associate member of the South Vernon United Methodist Church. She was a member of the W.F.C.S. Class, the Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Joyce’s loves were her God, her family, the church, and all her students. She invested her life in the people she knew.
She is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Donald Morrison; three children, Mark (Sharon) Morrison of Mount Vernon, Ardyth (Robert) Stull of Mansfield and Paul Morrison of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Hooper, David Morrison, Betsy Stull, Seth Morrison and Jonathan (Katie) Stull; and six great-grandchildren, Conner Morrison, Abigail Hooper, Koen Swartz, Andrew Hooper, Will Hooper and Clay Hooper.
Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Turner; and her sister, Betty Hard.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry St., Mount Vernon, with the Revs. Robert Alexander, Warren Outhwaite, Lawrence Hard and Robert Stull officiating.
