BROWNSVILLE — A funeral service for Luther I. Roach, 83, of Brownsville, will be Monday, March 28, at 1 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.

Luther died March 25, 2011, at Newark Healthcare Centre. He was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Utica to the late Virgil and Mary J. (Applegate) Roach. Luther was a loving husband and father. He was a World War II Navy veteran and retired from Rockwell International after 31 years of service. Luther was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Eagles and Moose lodges.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley A. (Hartrum) Roach of Brownsville; son and daughter-in-law, Kurvin and Chris Roach of Illinois; daughters and son-in-law, Tami Graham of Canal Winchester, Traci and Robert Large of Brownsville, Teddi Matheny of California; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Sharma Roach of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Sheldon Roach; brothers, Lamar, Calvin and Garland Roach; sisters, Gladys Saunders and Agnes Landis.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday, at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica.
