MOUNT VERNON — George E. Hartman, 73, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, at his home.
He was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Mount Vernon. George was a 1956 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and retired from Cooper Energy Services after 38 years of employment. He was as competitive as he was athletic and enjoyed playing softball, bowling and golfing until his passing. He remained a diehard Cleveland Browns fan throughout his whole life, as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eileen Hartman; three sons, Dirk (Dot) Hartman of Fredericktown, Kirby (Pam) Hartman of Massillon and Jerry Hartman of Mount Vernon; his cherished grandchildren, Zachary, A.J. and Katie Hartman of Massillon, Jacob and Jacey Hartman of Mount Vernon; two stepgranddaughters, Sandy Hess and Kim Davis. For the last five years, he also enjoyed the company of his spoiled canine companion, Puggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Jason Hartman.
According to George’s wishes, there will be no calling hours prior to a private graveside service. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of George E. Hartman.
