MANSFIELD — James Houston Buckalew, 89, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, in Wedgewood Estates.

Born Dec. 16, 1921, in Stonewall, Miss., to the late Alman and Lillie (Page) Buckalew, he earned a business degree from Hinds Junior College. From 1942 to 1945 he served as a pilot in the Marine Corps, earning the rank of captain.

He is survived by his children, James Buckalew Jr., Sharman Buckalew, Ruth Wiegel and Teresa Allison; two stepchildren; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandsons; and extended family.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Buckalew; second wife, Mildred Buckalew; and brother, Alman Lamar Buckalew.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 4, at noon in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Ave., where friends may call Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. The Rev. Kent Joy will officiate. Burial in Enterprise Cemetery in Enterprise, Miss. Complete obituary at
