MOUNT VERNON — Ura N. Mast, 72, of Lawn Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1939, in Millersburg to the late Noah and Amanda (Hochstetler) Mast. Ura was employed as an appliance repairman for Heaton Appliances for over 21 years and later started his own repair business, Mast Appliance Repair. He was a past worthy president of the Eagles 760 and was a past officer of the Sons of AMVETS Post 95. Ura enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, fishing and making birdhouses.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Christena Mast; two sons, Michael (Shinlee) Mast of Mount Vernon and David (Julie) Mast of Columbus; four daughters, Teresa (Wilson) Warner, Pamela (Michael) McMahon, Lori (Will Vess) Mast and Barbara (Troy Savage) Mast, all of Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandsons; three brothers, Mose (Becky) Mast, Henry (Susan) Mast and Roy (Emma) Mast, all of Millersburg; and two sisters, Lydiann (Levi) Shrock and Mary (Milton) Shetler, also of Millersburg.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jerry Bell officiating. A reception will follow the graveside service, at AMVETS Post 95, 206 W. Ohio Ave., Mount Vernon.
