MOUNT VERNON — Ashley Wood, 25, of Mount Vernon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a long courageous battle with diabetes.
She was born March 22, 1986, in Newark. Ashley was a 2004 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and had worked for Apple Valley Resort. She enjoyed reading, working word search puzzles, and spending time with her family.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Shelia (Michael) Mills of Mount Vernon; her father, Quentin Snyder of Ashley; brothers, Justin and Tyler Shaw of Mount Vernon; a sister, Kayla Carpenter of Mount Vernon; grandparents, Connie (Don) Tuggle, Herbert Wood, Jerry (Sue) Mills, Ralph Snyder and Zelda Workman; nieces, Jaelyn and Jaedyn Shaw; nephews, Nathaniel Murphy and Justus Shaw; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ashley was preceded in death by a daughter, Jazmin Nichole Wood.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 4, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
