MANSFIELD — Carl Thomas of Elmcroft of Ontario, died Friday, April 1, 2011, in Lexington Court Care Center.
The son of Eli and Anna (Belancic) Thomas, Carl was born in Lorain on Aug. 13, 1921. A decorated combat veteran of World War II, Carl served in the U.S. Army. He taught history and government at Mansfield Senior High School for 32 years.
Survived by his sister, Ann Snyder; and brothers, Stanley and Emil Thomas; four nephews, Ronald Eckert, Drew Eckert, Bruce Eckert and Stephen Eckert; niece, Joyce Morton; and extended family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha L. Eckert Thomas; four sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 5, at 11 a.m. in Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Homes where calling will begin the hour prior from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Brian Durbin will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
