ONTARIO — Gerald “Jerry” Greene, 76, of Ontario, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at his residence in Ellenton, Fla., where he spent the winters.

Born July 9, 1934, in Greene, Ky., he was the son of Ralph L. and Barbara E. (Gillum) Greene. He retired from Ideal Electric after 43 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Crestline. He enjoyed farming, tinkering around the house, being outside or busy building something. He had just recently built a Dulcimer and would never pass up an auction or a garage sale.

He is survived by his wife, Judith (Whited) Greene; three sons, William L. Greene and his fiancé, Kristi Chaplin, of Boulder City, Nev., Michael L. (Karin) Greene of Bamberg, Germany, and Robert L. (Rebecca) Greene of Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, Jennifer Greene of Bamberg, Germany, Nicole Bowman of Waco, Texas, and Nyle Greene of Crestline; two stepgrandchildren, Seth Combs of Upper Sandusky and Courtney Combs of Crestline; several stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph E. (Diane) Greene of Delaware; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park.
