MOUNT VERNON — Joyce Elaine Scott, 78, of Mount Vernon, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
Joyce was born June 20, 1932, in Knox County to Dawson L. and Bernice B. (Harding) Armstrong and had lived her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. She was a graduate of Amity High School and the Mount Vernon Business College. She had been employed in the quality control department of Continental Can Co./American National Can Co., and retired after 34 years employment. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, AMVETS Auxiliary and the Ladies of the Moose, all in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas R. (Patricia) Scott and Myron Scott, both of Mount Vernon; grandsons, Thomas James Scott and Steven Kenneth Scott; sisters, Dorothy R. (John) Welch of Howard and Florence Marlene Pitts of Mount Vernon; and brothers, David Keith (Karen) Armstrong of Howard, Kenneth Lowell (Ruth) Armstrong of Danville, Gary L. Armstrong of Mount Vernon and Dick (Connie) Armstrong of Ashland.
Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Scott; and brothers, Dwight Armstrong, Bobby Armstrong and Ronnie Armstrong.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Jelloway.
