MARTINSBURG — Robert M. Westover, 81, of Martinsburg, passed away April 2, 2011, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Altoona, Pa., to Olin and Hulda (Arble) Westover. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 9062 in Utica, the American Legion and the “Cooties.”

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Steinmetz), whom he married in 1992; one son, Robert M. “Pete” Westover Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Donna Westover of Delaware and Oline N. Westover of Fort Riley, Kan.; six grandchildren; and stepchildren, Steven Steinmetz of Martinsburg, Sonya (Steve) Lybarger of Howard and Cindy Smith of Reynoldsville, Pa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgeann Mickley.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 4 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg, with Mr. Ben McKinstry officiating.

The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to the VFW Post 9062 in Utica.
