HOWARD — Everett B. Neely, 78, of Blanchard Road, Howard, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, at his home.
He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Mannington, W.Va., to the late Robert and Icie (Rogers) Neely. Everett was employed as a line supervisor for American National Can from which he retired. Everett was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 95 here in Mount Vernon. He loved working on cars in the garage, he was a handyman and could fix just about anything. He liked to fish and be outdoors. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas (Lory) Neely of Howard and David Neely of Howard; a daughter, Trisha (Joshua) Moreland of Danville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Blaine (Doris) Neely of Danville and Richard Neely of Columbus; and a sister, Janet (Larry) Miller of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his wife, Freda (Gump) Neely; a brother, Warren Neely; and a sister, Betty Grubaugh.
Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a service will be held Friday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
