MOUNT GILEAD — Ruth Virginia (Henderson) Carper, 88, of Mount Gilead, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon.

She was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to the late Franklin Henderson and E. Pearl (Devoll) Jones. She was a member of the Waterford Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son, James (Anne) Brookover of Louisiana; a daughter, Judith (Layman) Wiant of West Virginia; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carper; a son, Jack Brookover; and a brother, Loren Henderson.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, where friends may call one hour prior. Mr. Ray Linn will be officiating. Burial will follow in Northfork Cemetery near Waterford.
