GRANVILLE — Rebecca J. Grove, 88, a resident of Kendal at Granville and formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Miss Grove was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to the late James Harrison and Acsah Eugenia (Humiston) Grove. Miss Grove was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Education from Heidelberg College. She also studied home economics at The Ohio State University. Miss Grove was employed for a number of years with Cooper-Bessemer in Mount Vernon.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon and enjoyed painting, cooking and the arts.

She is survived by a sister, Ruth Grove of Granville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Grove of Granville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a longtime friend, Marge Brose of Howard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. James Humiston Grove; and a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Earl Driver.

At her request, no calling hours or service will be observed.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
